The biggest of celebrations for Glanmire Ladies football club took place at Vienna woods on Friday 19th of January where a crowed of 360 came together taking over the large ballroom for the celebration of our 2017 season. Young, old and everything in-between had a great time celebrating, even sharing a few tips amongst the coaches for the season to come, the clubs record achieving wins last year with no less that 16 competitions won by the girl of Glanmire, most of which were a A grade, this gave us every reason to celebrate late in to the night.

Opening the night was club chairman Michael Hannon, Michael welcomed and thanked everyone for making the club what it was today, reminding us that all the success and hard work was down to the many volunteers who help run the club, also thanking the hard working committee for selling ticket, collecting medals and setting up the room for the night ahead, while also thanking vienna woods for their hospitality.

Glanmire ladies football club President, Brian Lotty was amazed and delighted to see such a big crowed attending the night, speaking about the clubs history and how proud he was of the ground we have covered in the clubs short 18 years and becoming one of the biggest clubs in the country.
On the night all the coaches had the opportunity to speak about the fantastic girls they had coached last year and how they looked forward to the season to start, also presenting them with their treasured medals.

2017 was history making for Glanmire and in particular the u14team who won 6 competitions/trophies last year, the highlight for them in 2017 how ever was their all Ireland feile. The u14 winners paraded thought the room showing the crowed the winning trophies. Their coaches Mark and Christy spoke so highly of all the girls and their commitment and dedication for not just football but camogie too, the likes they had never seen before, where most of the panel won 2 all Ireland feile competitions (football and camogie) in the space of 7days.

On the night a number of awards and presentations were given to people who thoroughly deserved them, standing out over the year of 2017, a joint player of the year was presented to Niamh McAllen and Alison McNamara their football skills where hard to match right throwout the year. Nicole Hickey was presented with a token of appreciation from the u14 team and management for all the work and advising she had given them, Conor Hannon and Cillian Byrnes were given a big cheer when they were presented with footballs signed by the feile 2017 winning team, presented to them for been the best/youngest assistants of the year to the u14’s. While Ed Burke was thanked for his time, effort and drive he had given the minor and junior teams helping them win county medals. The night ended off with a few dodgy dance moves and a great night of socialising of all the girls, coaches and parents of Glanmire.
