U14 Ladies Camogie

On Wednesday evening the 4th of October, 2017 Bride Rovers u14 camogie team played their first game of the championship away to St. Vincents. From the outset, Bride Rovers were the stronger team and scored enough goals to give them a comprehensive lead of 5-1 to 1-2 going into the second half. St. Vincents were unable to bridge the gap but in fairness to them, they never gave up trying. However, on the day, Bride Rovers were the better team and were decisive winners at the full time whistle. Well done to all involved.

Minor Ladies Camogie

On Tuesday October 3rd Our U18 Camogs had the daunting task of going to Ballynoe to play St Catherines in Camogie County replay. We knew going down that this was going to be a tough battle for both teams if the last match was anything to go by. From the start Bride Rover Ladies showed what they were made of and their fitness and skills really began to shine through. It was a very tight and close match with equal scoring. At the full time whistle it was again level which meant it had to go to extra time. The girls really excelled in extra time and had many goal opportunities that just didn’t end up in the net for them but they wanted to win and fought till the bitter end. In the last minute of the game we were down three points and Katie Quirke caught the ball and made a burst straight through the centre of the pitch and this time the ball was going nowhere only the back of the net. The final whistle went and the girls had done what they set out to do. Such a proud moment for Mentors, Parents, Supporters, Club and Most of all for This Amazing bunch of girls who showed heart and courage throughout the entire game. It was a great win !!!!! Our team on the night fought and never gave up from Rachael O Flynn in goal, to our defenders Talitha O Neill, Emily Larkin, Claire Hickey, Emma Barry, Katie Quirke and Caoimhe Hazelwood , Our Midfield Aine Keating and Aislinn O Connor, Our forwards Sally Mc Carthy, Fiona Barry, Siobhan O Sullivan, Lucy Hicks, Sarah Murphy and Grace Culloty and not forgetting our super subs Caoimhe O Sullivan, Chloe Murphy and Arianne O Flynn.

Minor Camogie ladies do it again

On Sunday morning last 8th of October, 2017 our minor ladies travelled to Ballygarvan for the second round proper of the county B minor camogie championship. Having beaten St Catherines, a senior camogie club on the previous Monday evening under lights in Ballynoe, it was a tough ask against another senior club. The morning was bright and sunny and perfect for camogie, even if the grass was a bit high!!

The game started at a good pace but scores were hard to come by in a tough first half. We missed a few good scoring chances and coming up to half time it was 3 points to 2 to the Rovers. Sally Mc Carthy kept us in touch with a free and another point from play and Fiona Barry added a point from play, but with the last puck of the half and with a few extra steps thrown in, Ballygarvan goaled to leave us 2 points down at the short whistle.

After a good halftime chat, the girls tore in to Ballygarvan but again we found scores hard to come by. Our goalkeeper Rachel O Flynn and our full back line of Claire Hickey, Emily Larkin and Talitha Neil were under pressure but playing really well. Our half back line of Emma Barry, Katie Quirke and Caoimhe Hazelwood were solid and playing a lot of ball. Aine Keating and Aislinn O Connor were covering a lot of ground very effectively from end to end. Ballygarvan got a lucky goal to go 4 points up halfway through the second half and looked to be cruising but this bunch of girls never know when they are beaten. Our half forward line of Sally Mc Carthy, Fiona Barry and Siobhan O Sullivan were making life difficult for the Ballygarvan backs and our full forward line of Lucy Hicks, Sarah Murphy and Grace Culloty and Arianne O Flyyn when she was introduced, were chasing down every ball that came in and making it difficult for the Ballygarvan backs to clear their lines.

4 unanswered points from Sally (2), Grace and Sarah had us back level with the clock almost up when Katie Quirke picked up a ball from Aine and took off on a 60 metre run before billowing the net in a carbon copy of her outstanding goal against St Catherines last Monday night to give us a lead of 3 points which we held on to until the final whistle. There were scenes of joy at the end and deservedly so as it was a great team performance without ever reaching the heights of the St Catherine`s game. Roll on the quarter final!! Well done girls. A fully deserved victory.

We have huge Development Plans being finalised at present which will need major funding over the next 10 years. The Draw costs just €10 a month which is €120 or you can save €20 by paying a single payment of €100. You can pay by cash, cheque or Direct Debit, whichever suits best. This year the Draw Prize Fund is €450,000 including Pairc Ui Chaoimh 10 year tickets, Ed Sheeran Concert tickets plus huge cash prizes, Hotel Breaks and Vouchers.
