On Thursday the 2006 tem welcomed Na Piarsiagh to Pynes. We had 16 girls available on the night. The girls started well quickly getting some good scores. This match ebbed and flowed with nothing much between the teams and we had the better of the first half. We got stretched in the second half with some injuries and smaller squad available and we conceded some crucial scores near the end and Na Piarsiagh held on to their lead for the won. The girls gave their all and were unfortunate on the night not to get the result.
On Saturday with 17 players available combination of the younger and older teams we made the trip to Rockban for the 2006 team. This was a great match with many of the younger girls working really well together with our core 2006 team. We created some excellent moves that lead to great scores and let us built up an early lead. We came under pressure in the second half from a talented young Rockban team but we held out for narrow victory.
On Monday night the 2006 girls made the short trip into Fermoy for the final game of the East Cork League for this group. This turned into a great game with both teams going at it right from the off. Fermoy had the better of the early scoring and built up a bit of lead, but our girls got stuck in to task and got some great scores and kept cutting away Fermoys early lead. Fermoy poached a couple late scores to close out the match for the victory. Our girls can be well proud of their efforts on this game and on another night this result could have been in our favour.
Speedy recovery to our injured players.
Next up is Youghal in Pynes for 2007 team on Thursday.
