A record number of girls took part in the Bride Rovers Ladies Football & Camogie Club summer camp. A total of 108 girls assembled everyday at Pairc Na Bríde to have some fun and games with their friends and coaches and for the most part the weather was fine too.
We had a very special guest on Friday when Cork Ladies Football Star Orla Finn visited the camp. She spoke to the girls about training and the importance of listening to your coaches but also having fun playing football and camogie with friends. She answered many of the interesting questions she asked and took part in an obstacle course with the girls. Overall it was a very enjoyable week and finished on a high with DJ, Ice Cream cones and goody bags.
Special thanks to Valerie Culloty for looking after the registrations, thanks to Jennifer Cahill & Trish O’Sullivan for co-ordinating the coaches and events for the week and to all our coaches for their help. Thanks also to the parents who helped our everyday and to all 108 girls who took part in the camp. See you all next year.
Third Win For Juniors
Our Junior Ladies continued their winning streak with a seven point win over Passage on Monday night last in Passage. Playing against a strong wind in the opening half the Rovers defence played superb in keeping Passage forwards t just 3 points. At the other end we were creating scoring opportunities but some wayward shooting resulted in some poor wides. However points from Colette Hogan and Jess O’Riordan, followed by a well taken goal from Jess had us in front at half time 1-02 to 0-3.
Katie Kelleher had the Rovers off the mark early in the second half and further points from Colette, Katie, Emma Barry & Mary Hazelwood extended the Rovers lead before Passage responded with 3 points. A brace of points from Katie ensured a Rovers victory on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-06.
AFter this great win we are assured of a place in the County Semi-Final which is a great achievement.

Cork U16 in All-Ireland Final
Comiserations to the Cork U16 girls who were defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland Final in Nenagh. On the night Cork were not good enough to beat Galway and only for the heroics of Sarah Murphy in goal the margin would have being much greater. Sarah gave an outstanding display of shot stopping to deny Galway’s forwards on numerous occasions.
Best Wishes Brian & Eoin
The club extends best wishes to Brian & Eoin Roche in the All-Ireland U17 Hurling Final v Dublin in Croke Park on Sunday.
Church Gate Collection
