U-14 East Cork league Cloyne 2-07 V St Colmans 1-04
Venue : Cloyne: 11-02-17
Referee : Pa Beausang.
Cloyne had a panel of 22 players with all getting a game. It was definitely the proverbial game of two halves! On a windy day and heavy under foot conditions, Cloyne opened the scoring with a great goal from Melissa O’Sullivan after the St colmans goalie had saved a penalty. Points from Heather Ward, Aoife Healy and Abigail Ring was a result of hard work, great passing and support play. The defence worked together as a unit stopping many St Colman attacks. Another goal and a point from Aoife Healy ended the first half with a score line of 2-4 to 0-1. The second half favoured St Colmans with the strong breeze but the backs combined well to keep the scores to a minimum. Molly Lawton in goals lead the defence with Rachel Hayes, Katie O’Gorman and Annie O’Keeffe working well to get the ball up the field. Martha Cronin, Reguile Zukauskaite and Nora Falvey along with Roisin Keane and Melissa O’Sullivan played good combined football enabling the forwards Grace Perry, Chloe O’Connor and Julie Cronin to get on the ball. Chloe Kelly and Aoife Healy scored a point each before St Colmans got a few scores with the final score being 2-7 to 1-4 to Cloyne. A good start to the league for our girls who showed great spirit and when a few of the older players had to come off with injuries the younger girls stepped up and played their part very well.
