East Cork Ladies’ Football weekend results

County U 16 “A” Final

Aghada captured their first “A” grade county championship title when they defeated Kinsale by a single point in the replay of the final played at a sunny but bitterly cold Mayfield venue on Sunday last.
Because of both clubs involvement in other competitions it was seven weeks since the drawn game and although the Aghada girls made most of the running in this game Kinsale kept in touch with a series of well taken frees. In Extra time Kinsale took the lead but the girls from East Cork fought back to take the day winning by a single point so very well done to all concerned.

East Cork U 16 “C” Final                                                                                                                Erin’s Own U 16 ladies were victorious over Na Piarsaigh in the final of the East Cork U 16 C championship. This was a close contest all the way with the Erin’s Own Ladies just having a slight edge in an exciting final.

East Cork U 16 “D” Final

Watergrasshill added to their minor win as they added the U 16 “D” East Cork title defeating Delany’s in the final .The Hill were much too strong for the city girls and ran out easy winners.
East Cork Minor “D” Final
Sunday afternoon saw Carrigtwohill take on the second Fermoy minor team in the final of the East Cork final “D” competition. This was a great game with both sides giving their all. In the end it was the Ladies from Fermoy who won out by the narrowest of margins but very well done to both teams.
Next weekend
Saturday next sees Fermoy A team take on a fancied St Val’s team in the County Minor “A” final. This game is fixed for St Michaels GAA grounds at 2 pm
On Sunday it is the turn of the Aghada Minor girls who take on Carrigaline in the County Championship “B” final. No venue is fixed at present but should be at 3 pm

Thankfully we are reaching the end of the football season in East Cork Ladies football and we are down to just a handful of games left to be played over the next two weekends

Munster Intercounty Blitz
On Saturday last East Cork were well represented in the U 15 Inter County Munster Blitz held in Mallow GAA grounds
Cork had 7 teams on view and this afforded the new Cork U 16 management team a chance to see what talent is available to them for next year.
Thanks to all the trainers and mentors who ran the East Cork U 15 development programme for the last few months.
