U 16 NEWS
REPORT BY JAMES MAUNSELL
Inch u16s lined out in the east cork league final last night against Rockban in killeagh .
We had to start without Aoife Higgins who was playing Camogie with O Neills. We opted to play against the breeze in the first half. We started really well and our full forward line of Grainne Joanna and Megan looked really dangerous and plundered an early goal. Kelly kicked a great free. Rockban with the breeze scored the Nxt 4 points. With Aoife oneill, EmmaMarcia caoimhe Aoibhe and Orla putting real pressure on their forwards and doing what goods backs do forcing them to shoot from tight angles , Rockban couldn’t build on their lead. We lost Aoife to an ankle injury and Aine o Driscoll replaced her. Aine put in some game in the corner. Sarah and Alannah took over in the middle . Rose kelly and Shannon pressed hard on Rockban kickouts and this resulted in another 1.01 for inch. Shannon goal was pure magic.
The sight of Aoife Higgins galloping to the dugout in father o Neills Jersey from her camogie lifted everyone. We lead by 1 at halftime . Sarah moved to halfback and Ellena kelleher and Aoife to midfield. Again our full forwards forced another goal and with the recently returned Ali firing over a few points we lead by 5. Rockban ban never gave up but Aoibhe, Emma and Jane were not to leave them get that goal. A really important interception by Niamh o Connor stopped what looked like a certain goal. Ciara Irwin Ciara Steele and caolfhlinn Barry all joined
and put in great displays.
Final score 3.08 to 11 points. Tomas Goggin presented the trophy to joint captains Aoife Higgins rose Goggin and Kelly Steele as night fell. They made excellent speech. A great club performance as this u16 team had players from u14 u16 minor junior and senior. Thanks to all club coaches and managers.

MINOR NEWS

Report by James Maunsell
Inch minors were out against Glanmire in Glanmire this evening. We had a full panel tonight and played 15 a side with 4 subs who rolled on and off as required. We started well with a goal from Rachel . We had loads of possession but Glanmire were a little more efficient to leave the score at halftime 2.05 to 1.01. We introduced jane at corner back and this allowed Donna to centre forward. Everyone really upped the game and goals from Emma and Donna got us back into the game. Glanmire are a fine team and caught us for a few goals on the break and after a great game of football in the second half Glanmire prevailed on a score of 5.12 to 3.06.
This was probably our last game of the league.while the results did not go our way we still saw some great performances and every player contributed .
A huge thanks to all players who lined out during the summer and to Sheila for coming on board. We now look forward to championship and with a small bit of belief we should be a match for anyone.
U16s are in championship Monday night.
