U10
Our u10 team travels to fermoy Last Saturday to take part in a very well organised blitz, playing lots of games, a very worthwhile trip, giving us lots of experience of playing games after a long summer break. A big thanks to fermoy for hosting a great blitz again this year.
After a morning in fermoy our u10 team made their way down to lidl Glanmire, who presented the club with a generous cheque, that will be of great benefit in helping run our club, big thanks to lidl Glanmire.
U12″A”
Glanmire Ladies U-12 “A” team played their East Cork League final on Wednesday last against Youghal in Killeagh. This game was always going to be a hard game for the Glanmire girls as many were only returning from holidays. Youghal opened the scoring with a well taken point and followed up immediately with a goal. Glanmire responded with point of their own. Glanmire found it hard to counteract the strong running and support play by Youghal as further scores were exchanged before half time where Youghal led by two points. If the first half was exciting then the second half had everything that is good about ladies football. Glanmire had their purple patches during the second half but couldn’t convert their possession into scores while the Youghal team kept the score board ticking over. Midway through the second half the Glanmire girls got right back into contention, however the Youghal girls really dug deep and scored a second goal to put the game beyond Glanmire to eventually win out on a score line of 2-6 to 0-6. This was a good game of football, played by two very talented teams. Nobody can fault the Glanmire girls for their effort on the night. Next up for the Glanmire girls is a County quarter final versus Valley Rovers on Saturday 3rd at 3pm in The Pike.
U16
Sunday last week saw our u16 team head to knocknagree for their quarter final of the county, a good start for both team looked like it would be a close game at first, but once Glanmire settled down on the away pitch, it was evidence Glanmire would run away with a win. Glanmire have progressed to the semi finals. We would like to thank knocknagree for their fantastic hospitality after the game, providing Glanmire team, coaches and supporters with much needed refreshments.
The girls are due to play the semi final on Friday the 2nd v Aghada in Carrigtwohill at 6.45pm.
Good luck to the u16 team in their county semi-final and the u12 in their quarter final.
