East Cork Ladies’ Football Weekend Round Up

Imokilly Ladies’ Football

Fermoy 3-12 Imokilly 0-13

Imokilly senior team were defeated by Fermoy in the semi final of the East Cork senior championship on Sunday evening in Fermoy.
This was the divisional side first outing in some years and some further work is required to blend the team together as lack of match practice was very evident Fermoy playing against a very strong wind in the first period matched Imokilly point for point turning with seven points each at the break. Fermoy showed just why they won the County intermediate title last year as they stepped up a gear in the second period and played some lovely team football. Imokilly struggled on to put passes together and did not take their chances but still were well in the game with five minutes to go and only trailed by four point s but two cracking goals in the dying minutes for the Fermoy ladies put this tie to bed as the club side march on to the East Cork final where they will meet the winners of Inch Rovers and Bride Rovers.

Well done to all who turned out for the division and I feel the management can draw a lot of positives from this game as they had almost a full side out and have a wealth of talent available to them and if they can put in a few full training sessions together they could get a good run in the county and I am sure they will improve greatly and gain momentum as the season progresses.
