Glanmire Ladies’ Football Notes w/e 12-6-16

Glanmire Ladies Football

U8’s
Our u8 teams are getting great games in the last number of weeks, most recently they took on Midelton, this gives them great confidence and experience on the field, which will no doubt stand to them as they go on playing, well done to all the players and their coaches who continue to train week in and week out

U10″A”

Our u10″a” team had two games over the last few days. First up was watergrasshill on Thursday a week ago in the pike. A really close game all the way through against a very strong watergrasshill side. Only a few points in it all the way until a last minute goal from Ava McCarthy set up by sinead Hurley sealed a win by 2 points for Glanmire. Captain on the night Alex Downey had a great game as did Sophie Cullen and Odhrna Hurley. On sun night last, we visited carrigtwohill where another great game was had. Great performance by the whole team including Tara Loftus Madhbh O’Callaghan Eve O’Regan and Kelly Baldwin earning Glanmire the win.

U14″A”

Our u14s travelled to play Eire Og last Friday night in the semi-final of the U14A County.
In extremely wet and awful conditions both teams played a high standard of football, which is a credit to all the girls involved.
We always knew it was going to be difficult game and in the end Glanmire won on a score line of 2-7 to 3-2.
It is difficult to single out any player on a night when everyone played well but in the final 10 minutes when Eire Og tried to grab victory our backs performed exceptionally.
We now play Inch Rovers in the final provisionally fixed for Saturday next
A big thank you to all the players, parents and supporters who attended the match.

County/Divisional Development
Development Football at Inter Divisional level will be commencing shortly for girls at Under 13 and Under 15 age levels. This development will help form basis of who will be included in the Cork U.14 and U 16 team panels for 2017 season. There will also be an Inter Divisional blitz competition involving the four Cork Lgfa divisions in both age groups. This is a new initiative this year being adopted by Cork Lgfa board. Further information on this initiative can be made available from Secretary East Cork Board or email to Corkladiesdev@gmail.com
