East Cork Division Represented in Three U 14 County Ladies Football County Championship Finals
East Cork Ladies Football will be represented in the “A” “B” & “C” County championship finals next weekend.
Congratulations to Glanmire, Inch Rovers, Youghal and Midleton on their respective wins in the county U 14 semi finals played over the last few days.
Glanmire overcame Eire Óg in their semi final played in poor weather conditions on Friday evening . A very good first half performance was enough to see them through by just two points in a game that Eire Óg battled right to the end but the experience of the East Cork side allowed them to hang on.
Inch Rovers overcame Bandon in a low scoring game played in Mayfield on Monday evening. Inch looked strong in all quarters but Bandon put in a great performance limiting the lively Inch Rovers forwards. So it is an all East Cork “A” final which tells you the standard of U 14 football in the division. The very best of luck to both sides in the final which is provisionally fixed for Saturday evening
The U 14 “B” semi final was an all East Cork affair between Youghal and Aghada and what a great game of ladies football it was. Youghal forged ahead only to be pegged back time and time again in a thrilling game played in Killeagh on Friday night last. The loss of one of the mid field girls for Aghada just before half time was a severe blow to them but they battled hard against a very good Youghal side who set them selves up well and took their chances when they came. Aghada on the other hand will rue some poor shooting as they had a total of fifteen wides and were defeated by a single point. Congratulations to Youghal as it is their first time in a U 14 County final where they will play Ballinora who also are very accomplished footballers and have a great record in National Schools Sciath Na Scoil so the very best of luck to Youghal. Time and venue to be announced.
Midleton also took a step into the unknown when they reached the U 14 “C” county final with a superb win over St Michaels in Carrigtwohill on Saturday last .Midleton are doing some great work at underage and this was very evident as they have a very well balanced side well able to score given half a chance. Midleton were well on top in this game and scored a total of six goals Michaels on the other hand failed to take their chances and the old cliché Goals win matches .Congratulations Midleton and the very best of luck in the final where they will meet Keelnameela on Thursday night next June 16th
