Aghada Ladies’ Football Notes…

U 14 East Cork League

As the U-14 & U-16 Leagues draw to a conclusion it has been a good league campaign for both teams.
The U-14’s have made the B League Final which is down to be played on the weekend of the 21st / 22nd against Youghal. On their way to the Final they had victories over Erins Own, Na Piarsaigh, Rockbán, Glanmire, losing out to Inch and Fermoy and drawing with Youghal. They played a league playoff game with Youghal to determine who finished third and fourth with Aghada playing Inch Rovers in one Semi and Youghal and Glanmire in the other. The beaten Semi Finalist play in the B Final which in this case is Aghada and Youghal who will meet for the third time this year and has the makings of a cracking game. We wish the team and management the very best of luck in this Final and also the best of luck in the County which is due to start on the weekend of the 3rd June. The draw for this is to be made at the next County Board Meeting.

U 16 East Cork League
The U-16’s had a mixed League campaign as well with victories over Inch, Erins Own, Cloyne and Bride Rovers, losing out to Midleton and Glanmire which set them up for a League Semi Final with Rockbán which they won and has now setup another mouth-watering tie with Glanmire in the Final of the East Cork A League to be played in August as the exams now take over for these girls and we wish all girls who are doing exams the very best of luck. The county championship for the U-16’s is also due to begin in August. The draw for this is to be made at the next County Board Meeting. We would also like to congratulate Aileen Mc Grath, Bridget Wall and Sarah Leahy who played with the Cork U-16’S this year and just lost out to Kerry in the Munster Final.

U-8’s , U 10’s & U 12’s
The U -8’s, U-10’s and U-12’s are motoring their way through their respective league campaigns with a lot of results going their way. Keep up the good work.

The Juniors are playing away league matches at the moment and have drawn Glanmire in the East Cork A Junior Championship.
We would like to congratulate Emma Farmer, Roisin Phelan and Hannah Looney on their National League Title with the Cork Senior Ladies and also wish them the best of luck in the Munster Championship and upcoming All Ireland Series. Hopefully we will see them in Croke Park in September.
Congratulations also to Sorcha Phelan and Christine Moran on winning Munster Minor medals with Cork and the very best of luck in the all Ireland semi final in July.
So as the sun comes out and the ground hardens up the action heats up also. We wish very best of luck to the teams who have finals over the next few weeks and also to all our players who will be facing in to Exams over the coming weeks.
