East Cork Ladies ‘ Football Féile Peil Na nÓg Qualifiers
Super Day in Rockbán

The East Cork section of the Ladies’ Football Féile Peil Na nÓg took place in summer like conditions at a beautifully prepared Rockbán venue in Whitechurch on Bank Holiday Monday. Six of the top U 14 East Cork Ladies’ Football teams took part in this competition with the top two qualifying to represent East Cork in the county finals to be played on May 4th.
In section “A” Aghada topped the group with Inch Rovers also qualifying for the semi finals. Bride Rover went through to contest the plate final. In Section “B” Glanmire easily topped their section with the host club also qualifying for the semi finals.
In the end Bride Rovers over came Fermoy to win the plate section and Glanmire and Aghada reached the final by defeating Inch Rovers and Rockbán respectively. Rockban took the third spot following a good tussle with Inch.
One could say the final was the icing on the cake or the best wine was left till last with Glanmire and Aghada matching one another point for point and goal for goal. After some outstanding play the sides were level at full time and also at the break in extra time but in the last five minutes it was the Glanmire girls who scored some lovely points to take the day. Congratulations Glanmire on winning the East Cork section of Féile and well done to both teams for a great final.
Many thanks go to the Rockbán club, and especially the ladies in the kitchen, who were just outstanding in feeding the extremely large crowd. Thanks also to all the participating teams who played some wonderful football and gave us all some very exciting games.
Best wishes to Glanmire and Aghada in the Féile County final fixed for May 4th.
The best of luck is wished to all the East Cork girls representing Cork at various grades over the next few weeks.
