The East Cork ladies football “A” Féile Blitz was held today March 18th in Pobalscoil na Trionóide Youghal.
St Nicks played Midleton in the quarter final with the winner playing Aghada in the semi-final. Midleton proved too strong for a very young and enthusiastic Nicks team.
In the first semi Youghal were on the back foot from early on when Glanmire scored two quick fire goals and left them with too much to do in a 10 minute a side game.
In the second semi Midleton caused something of a shock when they overcame a fancied Aghada side.
The final was a rip roaring game played at a terrific pace in very challenging weather conditions. One of the highlights was the excellent display by both goalkeepers under the high ball and shot stopping. Glanmire eventually came out on top on a score line of 2-3 to 0-2.
Best wishes to Glanmire and Midleton as they now go forward to represent the division in the County Féile.
The East Cork ladies football board would like to thank Pobalscoil na Tríonóide for making their facilities available when no other venue in the division could be found. Thanks to:
- Cormac Galvin and his team from Youghal LGFA for their work in preparing the pitch.
- Pa Beasaung who refereed all the games.
