East Cork girls to the fore in U 15 Intercounty Blitz in Mallow

East Cork girls to the fore in U 15 Intercounty Blitz in Mallow

On Saturday last nearly 28 teams from all over Munster travelled to Mallow to take part in the U 15 Academy inter county blitz

The Blitz was the culmination of weeks of training in each of the counties in which the girls honed their football skills under the watchful eyes of experienced coaches.

East Cork was well represented with nearly 40 girls travelling to the North Cork venue to take part. Both East Cork teams the Tigers and the Cheetahs aquitted themselves very well only loosing one game over the course of the afternoon. Conditions were testing but the weather cleared up later in the afternoon, very well done to every girl and we hope you enjoyed the experience.

Thanks to Munster LGFA for putting on the Blitz especially Siobhan Ryan and Éamon O Connor.

A special word of thanks must go to Chris Roche from the Inch Rovers club who was the head coach for both the U 13 and U 15 development in the East Cork area which ran for most of the summer. Chris and a small team deserve great credit for training the girls for the six weeks programme. Thanks also to Rosa, Nodlaig and Anthony for their assistance with the U 15 age group. Thanks also to the clubs who helped in getting fields for the development sessions. The girls were given a boot Bag at the end of the development as a memento of their time in the academy partly sponsored by McCarthy’s Sports of Glanmire.
