Junior v Aghada

Because our Junior team won the Junior A County League last year and the rearranging of the Adult divisions we have been promoted to a Div2 Senior team. We started our season yesterday with a very tough match against Aghada in very inclement weather and a heavy. Our quality showed from the start and we got a few points on board before Aghada hit a purple patch. A goal just befor half time brought us back into the game and there was the bare minimum between the teams. The teamwork and the ball work in the second half was amazing and the sheer determination of these girls did us all proud. The whole team and the 5 subs that came on were amazing and in a dingdong 30 mins we eventually beat a class Aghada outfit with a score of 2-13 to 5-2. Well done to all

U16 v Youghal

U16 football match report. Our first match in the u16 East cork football league was played against Youghal on a heavy pitch in GCC yesterday. Despite the conditions underfoot, the standard of football was excellent. We led 1:7-0:2 @ half time. Youghal played good football, but were unlucky with their finishing. We got our second goal midway through the second half, and withstood a brief rally from Youghal in the last few minutes to win well – with a final score of 2:12 to 1:4.

Glanmire run

This 7km race in Glanmire is coming up on Sunday the 25th of February 2018 at 11am. The course is 7kms in length and results will be available after for runners, glanmire ladies will have the warm showers running and lots of tea/coffee, sandwich and cakes for everyone after in the club house. Check out the race flyer above for the registration details.The race HQ is at Glanmire GAA grounds which is right alongside the main road that runs through Glanmire and Sallybrook.

 

The 3nd glanmire ladies road race is nearly here, been held on the Sunday 25th of February from the pike field, a 7k run, chip timing is here to stay as we have it again this year, the “running“ committee are hard at work already and will be right up till the run its self, the work of Sandra Kelleher and Ger Scannell are hard to match, they have taking to the course on a number of occasions to insure the run is accurate for all our runners, every aspect of the run has been looked after, sandra and Ger will be available for any runners wishing to pre-register for the run in McCarthy sports world (2nd floor over supervalu) on Saturday 24th of February from 10am till 2pm and on the day. There will be shower/changing facilities and refreshments afterwards, everyone is welcome young and old, serious runners and social runners. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday
