On a bright fresh and sunny Saturday morning, Youghal Ladies Football Club hosted a Family Fun Run/ Walk on Clay Castle beach with the slogan of “Lets get Youghal Moving in 2018”. Funds raised will go towards equipping all of our juvenile teams (boys & girls) for the up coming 2018 season. With over 400 attendees from all ages representing teams from all Youghal GAA Units (GAA, Camogie & Ladies Football) taking part, this was a real community effort with our young stars and Senior players heading out on a 5 Km run on Youghal’s fantastic beach followed by their enthusiastic parents, grandparents family and friends. Highlights of the morning was the enthusiasm shown by all at the starting line but more important was their feeling of achievement on finishing their 5km run or walk with many happy smiling faces at the finishing line. Some participants had recently taken up the Operation Transformation 5Km challenge and used this morning as a training session. Mick Sheehan & CRY provided the entertainment throughout the race, the highlight being some hilarious interviews our juveniles after finishing their run. Many thanks to all who supported this initiative, in particular our sponsors ( SuperValu Youghal, Winthrop Engineering, Youghal GAA Club & anonymous donors), 1st Responder Team, players, parents, managers, supporters, CRY and local media. To our hard working committee of Marian, Sam, Orla, Sandra, Amy & Claire many thanks for your effort over the past few weeks. All participants received refreshments after the race and were entered into a draw for fantastic prizes with winners listed, below. Many thanks again to all who supported this initiative and here’s to another fantastic day out in the future. In particular we would like to thank Maurice Cronin for capturing this event, with some fantastic photos which can be accessed on “MauricesYoughalGAAPhotos” Facebook page, Well done to all who participated.
