County A Minor 1/4 Final: Aghada 3-11 Kinsale 3-10.

Aghada advance to the Semi Final of the County A Minor Championship after a thrilling win over Kinsale in Rostellan on Sunday afternoon last. The game was played on the new Forrest Field and to be fair it was in pristine condition. Kinsale could only manage to start the game with fourteen players and in through sportsmanship Aghada matched what they had.

It was nip and tuck all the way through with the game level on numerous occasions. Going down the straight and with the seaside girls four points clear, Kinsale converted a penalty but it was too little too late and Aghada moved onto the Semi Final by the narrowest of margins winning on a final score line of Aghada 3-11 Kinsale 3-10.

Credit to both teams for producing a wonderful game of Ladies Football.

U-12 East Cork Semi Final: Aghada 3-10 Lisgoold 3-9.

Aghada and Lisgoold replayed their U-12 Semi Final on Monday evening last in Rostellan and to those in attendance they were treated to a thrilling game of Ladies Football that produced some wonderful play and excitement . This was end to end stuff and you have to credit each and every player for the exhibition of Ladies Football they put on. The game was in the melting pot right up to the Final whistle when Kaithlin Horgan split the Lisgoold post’s to put the seaside girls through to the Final and a meeting with Glanmire.

U-12 East Cork Final: Aghada 0-6 Glanmire 0-4.

Aghada made the journey to Sallybrook on Saturday afternoon last to take on the home side in the East Cork Final. From the high scoring game on the previous Monday evening this was a much lower scoring game. Glanmire settled into the game faster than the seaside girls and had the first score of the game. Scores were hard to come back and it took the Aghada girls till the 20th minute to register their first score. Glanmire got the next point of the half before Aghada responded to leave the half time score Aghada 0-2 Glanmire 0-2.

The second half was almost a carbon copy of the first, with Glanmire being quick out of the blocks again and pushed themselves two clear but there was one more kick left in the seaside girls and in the last ten minutes they our scored their opponents four points to zero to claim victory on a score line of Aghada 0-6 Glanmire 0-4.

There was great scenes of jubilation at the final whistle as this was the first title this bunch of girls had won. The cup was presented to joint captains May Collins and Meave Mc Grath by Philip Harrington of the East Cork Board.

Well done to both players and management on a wonderful victory.
