U8

Our u8s took part in their first blitz of the season in Cloyne on Saturday 30th September. We had our biggest squad to date with a total number of 14 players . In what was poor weather conditions our girls shone bright and had 3 great matches against Bride Rovers, Carrigtwohill and Fermoy. Each child gave it 100% in the pouring rain. They were up against tough opposition but our girls equalled each team in both their skills and attitude. Some wonderful team work lead to great scores. Our girls did a fantastic job and were a joy to watch – well done to each and every one of you. Thank you to Cloyne for hosting the blitz and providing refreshments.

U10

U10 played in end of season blitz on Sunday Sept 30th in Rathcormac . Played Glanmire, Bride Rivers and Carrigtwohill. The game against Glanmire was a close game in the first half but the girls pulled away in the second half to take the win. The second match against Bride Rivers was a difficult affair with a lot of negative play which hindered our girls from playing to their normal high standards. The final game against Carrigtwohill was a game of two halves with the girls showing great heart. At the final whistle we were pretty much even on the number of scores but Carrigtwohill managed to score more goals vs our tally of pointsThank you to Fermoy for hosting the blitz.

U10/U12 Blitz Sponsored by Barbara Gaffney Montessori Schools.

The under 10/12 blitz took place on Sunday the 16th of September. We had three teams travel to us on the day Carrigtwohill, Erin’s Own and Youghal. A great sporting day was had by all. There was over 100 girls in attendance on the day. U10 section was Lisgoold, Youghal and Erin’s Own. We beat Youghal and lost to Erin’s Own. Erin’s owns won both their games. We played Youghal a second time and then took the game by a point. So all in all very good games with Youghal. Erin’s Own were deserved winners with free flowing football to the fore in all games. Thank you to all the teams who attended the blitz. Thank you to the parents who provided and helped serve refreshments. Thank you to Gavin and all other referees. Thank you to John and Barbara Gaffney of Barbara Gaffney Montessori Schools for sponsoring medals.

U14

On Friday the 29th September we travelled to Watergrasshill to play our U14 East Cork Championship Semi Final. Both teams were evenly matched with little between the sides. Lisgoold had a lot of possession early on but were unable to convert chances. The girls worked hard and used the space well to move the ball quickly. We would take a 2point lead into the break. Watergrasshill would come out in the second half and up the intensity. With the game going from end to end with both teams missing chances. Nearing the end of the game Watergrasshill would take a 1point but our girls dug deep and gave a 100% effort and a late goal would see us claim victory in this enthralling contest. We would like to thank Watergrasshill for a great game. We await the winners of Na Piarsaigh/Fermoy B in the final.
