U-16 County Final Aghada 1-7 Glanmire 2-6
The people that turned up to Fermoy on Friday evening last were treated to a thrilling game of Ladies Football. It was end to end stuff but unfortunately we came out the wrong side of the result but we couldn’t have asked for anything more from this team.
Glanmire thundered into the game from the off but were met with a wall of Aghada players on each attack. As we settled into the game we started to play some good football and were rewarded with some wonderful scores. Aine Mc Grath picked up an injury just before the break and was moved to full forward. The move worked a treat as a delivery from Mary Leahy put Aine through to rattle the back of the Glanmire net. In the next move Mary Leahy went through only for the Glanmire keeper to stop the resultant shot which would of pushed us six ckear but instead we went to break leading 1-4 to 0-4 points.
The second half took the same route as the first with Glanmire quick out of the blocks again. This time they managed to get in for two goals. To be fair to the Aghada girls they never gave up and threw the kitchen sink at Glanmire but couldn’t draw them in. As we went in search of scores to take this game to a replay or possible victory the time beat us in the end and Glanmire ran out winners on a score line of Aghada 1-7 Glanmire 2-6.
Although we were beaten this team gave it their all in the pursuit of victory and they were a credit to their families and club. Their never say die attitude was superb and you can’t coach that. We were worthy champions in 2016 and we just came up short in 2017. We will rise again. #AthFhadaAbú

Minor East Cork Semi Final
On Monday evening last the Minors entertained Fermoy in the Semi Final of the East Cork League. It was a very strong performance from the seaside girls and they ran out comfortable winners in the end. This win means they will play A in the County Championship. We wish the girls and management the very best of luck on the County Trail.
