U-16’s Make It Back To County Final… Aghada v O’Donovan Rossa in Brinny 09.09.17
The U-16’s are an hour away from retaining their Cork County U-16 A Title after defeating O’Donovan Rossa in the Semi Final on Saturday evening last in Brinny. This was a great all round team performance by each and every girl.
The seaside girls really thundered into the game and took it to O’Donovan Rossa from the off. Katie Terry kicked the first point of the game for the seaside girls after some wonderful play out the field between Eva Rose Boylan and Aine Mc Grath to set her up. Mary Leahy was to get the next score before Lauren Linehan rattled the back of the net after a great ball through from Kaithlin Smith. This was quickly followed by another goal from Linehan and a point from Rachel Leahy to leave the score after the first quarter Aghada 2-5 O’Donovan Rossa 0-0. O’Donovan Rossa settled into the game and kicked three points on the trot before Lauren Mc Allister and Mary Leahy got the last two of the half to leave the halftime score Aghada 2-7 O’Donovan Rossa 0-3.
Mary Leahy opened the second half where she left off in the first with a well taken point. O’Donovan Rossa rallied again and got two points of their own before Clare Walsh got the seaside girls third goal to put the game beyond O’Donovan Rossa’s reach. To be fair they never gave up the chase but our girls were equal to the task and stood up to what they had to throw at them. In the end the seaside girls ran out winners on a score line of Aghada 3-11 O’Donovan Rossa 1-7. We now go on and meet the winners of Glanmire and Kinsale in the County Final. Date, time and venue TBC.

County Junior A Final
The County Junior A Final has been fixed for Saturday next at 6pm in Mayfield v Naomh Aban. This is a huge game for the girls and for the club. It is the first time we have reached an adult A competition final. We would appeal for as many people as possible to make the effort to attend this game to support the girls in their quest for County Honours. We would like the wish the players and management the very best of luck on Saturday evening.
