Wins for Junior’s, U-16’s and U-14’s
Junior A County Semi Final v Valley Rovers in Macroom 04.09.17
The Junior’s made the journey to Macroom on Monday night last to take on Valley Rovers in the County Junior A Semi Final, played in wintery conditions. Valleys were quick out of the blocks and had a point on the board within the first thirty seconds. A minute later a blistering run from Roisin Phelan saw her rattle the back of the Valleys net with a well taken goal. Valleys kicked the next two points of the game before Emma Farmer landed one for the seaside girls. Valleys responded with a goal of their own to put them two points clear after the first ten minutes. Farmer kicked the next two scores to level up the game, before Amanda Bennett put the seaside girls a point up. It was nip and tuck in the early stages of this game and it was turning out to be a great game of ladies football. Another point arrived from the boot of Lauren Linehan before Valleys replied with one of their own. Then from the twenty seventh minute to the half time break the seaside girls hit a purple patch with three goals in three minutes one from Linehan after a great assist from Aine Mc Grath, quickly followed by a cracking one from the boot of Aileen Mc Grath with Christine Moran hitting the third, to leave the half time score Aghada 4-6 Valley Rovers 1-4. The seaside girls started the second half with two good points from the hard working Lauren Mc Allister and one each from Farmer, Bennett and Aine Mc Grath. Famer was to get the seaside girls fifth goal and from here to the end it was all Aghada. To be fair to Valley Rovers they never gave up and kept driving at the Aghada defence in a bid to get themselves back into the game but with Sarah Walsh in goal and the backline of Sorcha Phelan, Bridget Wall, Karen O’Connell, Clare Walsh and the midfield partnership of Sarah Leahy and Eva Rose Boylan they could find no way through. Farmer, Moran and a well taken point from Katie O’Farrell finished out the scoring for the seaside girls and they ran out winners in the end on a score line of Aghada 5-14 Valley Rovers 1-4. It was a great overall team performance and some of the football was a joy to watch. They now go on and meet Naomh Aban in the County Junior A Final. At time of writing we think it is fixed for Saturday 16th September, venue and time TBC, but keep up to date with this fixture on Twitter @AghadaLGFC or follow us on Facebook. We would like to wish the team and management the very best of luck in the Final and we would appeal to as many as people as possible would support the girls in this Final.

U-16 A County ¼ Final v Mourneabbey in Mourneabbey 27.08.17
The U-16’s made the journey to Mourneabbey to take on the home side in the County ¼ Final. The seaside girls torn into this game from the start and produced a wonderful hour of ladies football. Rachel Leahy opened the scoring with a well taken point quickly followed by a goal from the boot of Lauren Mc Allister. Lauren Linehan kicked two more points followed by one from the boot of Eva Rose Boylan before Mourneabbey hit a goal of their own. Mary Leahy was next up to rattle the Mourneabbey net followed by another from the boot of Mc Allister to leave the half time score Aghada 3-8 Mourneabbey 1-4. The seaside girls started the second half where they left off in the first with Leahy getting her second goal and points from Linehan, Mc Allister (3) and Katie Terry. Ciara Ryan was to have the last say with a well taken goal to leave the final score Aghada 5-12 Mourneabbey 1-8. I must give special mention to the Olivia Dzijak in goal who pulled off some great saves in goals and to the backs of Eimear Cronin, Bridget Wall, Nicola Bennett, Katie O’Farrell, Clare Walsh, Sally Mc Allister, Aine Mc Gath and Eva Rose Boylan who had the task of keeping the Mourneabbey forwards at bay which they duly did. They now face O’Donovan Rossa in the County Semi Final which at time of writing is fixed for 10th September, venue and time TBC, but again keep up to date with fixtures by following us @AghadaLGFC or on Facebook.
