U8

Our U8 girls played their second league game on Thursday evening (June 22) vs St Colman’s in Shanagarry. Well done to both teams. Our girls played very well and are growing in confidence all the time.

Our u8 girls 3rd match last evening (4th July) – we played away to Mayfield – we had a team of 11 players in total. The u8 showed some great teamwork with some very good passing and good skills also – we played a strong Mayfield team but our u8 were just equally as strong – a huge improvement again with 5 different players scoring for Lisgoold – a great group of girls that are showing great potential – keep up the work girls

Our U8 girls played Bride Rovers on Wednesday 19th July in Rathcormac. Both teams played really well.

U10

On Thursday Evening (6th July) our U10 girls took on neighbours Carrigtwohill in the East Cork League. This was a very competitive game with little between the teams. Lisgoold worked hard and continue to improve and would go on to win the first half. Carrigtwohill went on to win the second half and ultimately the game. Both teams created some great scores. Lisgoold had a panel of 23 for this game which is great sign for the future of the club going forward. Lisgoold Team: Ava, Abbey, Aoibhe, Caoimhe, Amy, Robyn, Grace, Alison, Jessica O, Jessica M, Shona, Lucy, Niamh, Eleana, Sophie, Kate A, Kate N, Elizabeth-Jane, Emma, Molly, Lilly, Ellen, Leah. Scorers: Niamh, Lilly, Molly.

U8/U10 Lisgoold/Leamlara Street League

(Sponsored by Carrolls Windows and Doors)

Wednesday 12th July saw our u8 and u10 girls participate in our first ever street league – we had 43 kids in total taking part. Our first round saw The Superstars team take on The Minions, The Dream Team took on The Marvel Heroes and The Mean Machine Team took on The Cool Kids. The winners qualified for the Cup Final and the runners up qualified for The Shield Final. These were held on Friday 14th July. All kids were nervous and excited to be in the first ever final and I don’t think too many expected the level of play to be so high – a great atmosphere arose as there was epic clashes for the ball between sisters and classic fighting for the ball between best friends. Our u8 girls rose to the occasion and were not overshadowed by their older opponents with some creating great shots at goal and had some great passing. Our u10 girls showed great leadership on the pitch and had some fierce battles for the ball. Six fantastic games were played in total on Friday night with The Mean Machine being the winners of The Cup Final and The Cool Kids being winners of The Shield Final. We are already looking forward to The Street League 2018! We would like to thank Mark Carroll of Carroll’s Windows and Doors for sponsoring this event.

Divisional Development Academies

2017 Divisional Academies
The Divisional Academies for Under 13 and Under 15 girls will be run over a 6 week programme in 2017.Each Division is expected to have their coaches in place for U 13 which will begin on Wednesday July 26th.The U 15 will commence on Wednesday August 23rd. It is hoped that a one day blitz at the end of each academy will be held involving all four divisions at a date and venue to be decided later. The Munster blitz in Mallow will also go ahead as last year. These Academies were very successful last year, and the feedback received from the parents was most positive. It was decided as a result of the parents survey that a six week programme in each division would be sufficient. There is no date yet decided for the County trials, but it is envisaged they will take place over a 5/6 week period later on when the underage competitions are completed.

The U13 East Cork Development squad is kicking off this coming Weds July 26th. It is for girls born in 2004/05. It is taking place at Mayfield GAA this Weds  (26th July) from 6.45pm to 8pm, registration from 6.30. Registration is free but each session will cost €2 per player there will only be 6 sessions this year with a county blitz at the end. For info contact Anthony 0873131312 Chris 0866056365
