U14 NEWS
Report by Sheila
Hi all, our u14’s were out playing in the quarter final of the county Vs Bandon in killeagh. Unfortunately we had girls injured, away and feeling unwell. So we had to change around girls in very different positions hoping it would work and strengthen the team.
Both teams started off strong but bandon were 1th to put a score on the score board with a point. Bandon had tall girls across all positions and made it very hard for some of girls as we wouldn’t be as balanced in height. But a bit of luck and speed these things can be overcome at times. Our backs were under alot of pressure and bandon drove through twice to get 2 great goals. To bring the half time score to Inchrvrs 1-1 to Bandon 3-3.
We had 2 girls delayed from running competition in CIT so just made it at half time.
We made more changes and we knew it would take all to claw back the scores and get on top if possible to have any hope to win this game. Our girls did that and dough deep and started to claw back some great scores and within 5 mins to go we were only down 2 pts. But we had a few late injuries and bandon had the better finish when close to goals got a goal our goalkeeper half saved it but slipped from her fingers when tried to catch it and ended up in the back of the net. Felt very sorry for Andrea as she has had an outstanding season to date for us as goalie. But it just wasn’t meant to be, to bring the full time score Bandon 4-4 to inchrvrs 3-2.
On behalf of management, 7 weeks ago we had to play Aghada twice to get to the top 4 of the play off of the league. We got to a A league final & quarter final of the county. To be honest is a huge achievement and there is days as much as your prepared can go so wrong and you try all to amend it if possible. But luck is the key and drives on players to keep going.
So be very proud girls of what ye achieved over the league & county campaign. And we will keep training and organise challenge matches and prepare for the championship ahead in late August. Thanks again from management Sheila, Aine, Derry & Johnny
