U14
The Glanmire U14s travelled to Killeagh last Saturday morning to take part in the East Cork Feile finals. We had an early start as our first game was at 9.15 against hosts Inch Rovers. The group games were 5 minutes a side so a good start was imperative as these short games can be a lottery, Aisling McAllen won the throw in and the girls pressed Inch from the start, we were to finish 1-3 to 0-2 at the final whistle. The next 2 games were against Fermoy B and St Colmans where we were comfortable winners  , our last game of the group was V Youghal, this was a game that we had to win to ensure we moved on to the knockout stages, again the girls drove on from the start and were impressive winners. Our semi final opponents , Rockban awaited but this was a very one sided game, Rockban to be fair to them had just played 2 games back to back and they looked tired at this stage of the day. Youghal overcame Aghada in their own semi final so we again lined out against them in the final. We played with a stiff breeze to our backs in the first half and once Kate O Donovan put 2 goals passed their keeper early on, we never looked back. Olivia McAllen accepted the cup on behalf of the team and it must be said that it was a real team performance with 24 girls all playing a significant part on the day. Thanks to Paul O Sullivan for organising and to Inch Rovers for hosting, great job done by them on the day. The Feile Finals will be held on the May weekend.
