U 8 Girls
Our under 8’s travelled to Fermoy for the Munster blitz on Saturday. The squad of 11 players were up against Mourneabbey and Watergrasshill. We had a very good close game against Mourneabbey with end to end action throughout. Our game against Watergrasshill was again a very good game with Lisgoold in control for most periods of the game. All in all, it was a great day for the girls who were able to put their training into practice against two good teams. Roll on Passage.

U10 East Cork League Playoff vs Midleton in Lisgoold on Tues 29th 7pm

U12
On Sunday evening 14th August our U12 girls travelled to Killeagh to play Inch Rovers in the East Cork League Semi Final. Conditions were perfect for football. There was great support for both teams and they were not disappointed. The first half was a close affair with Inch Rovers having the majority of possession but still we went into half time 2 points down. 1-1 to 0-6. At half time Dave/Edel/Maria called the girls together and made some positional changes and shared some motivational words. Whatever was said did the trick as Lisgoold/Leamlara came out in the second half like a team possessed. They really stepped it up a gear with some great passages of play and well worked goals. But Inch Rovers did not leave us have it all our own way and came back with two goals of their own. There were incredible performances for 1-19. Goalkeeper and defence put in some great blocks and last ditch defending which prevented certain goals. The midfield and forwards ran their blue/gold socks over going forward and tracking back. This was an incredible game and incredible performance by our girls. FT Score Lisgoold/Leamlara 5-3 Inch Rovers 2-7. Thanks to Inch Rovers for a great game. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the girls and also to Dave/Edel/Maria for the great work they have done with the girls so far this year. Aghada now await us in the final. Lisgoold/Leamlara Scorers: Eilish 0-1, Aine 4-3, Julianna 1-0

Lisgoold/Leamlara played Aghada on Monday 22nd August 2016, in the East Cork U 12 ‘C’ League Final in Carrigtwohill GAA grounds.
On what was a perfect sunny evening for football, a good crowd gathered in attendance as both teams were well supported.
The game started at a fast pace with Aghada launching straight into attack. Lisgoold/Leamlara held up well initially but with the fast pace and movement of the Aghada midfield and forwards they managed to carve holes in the Lisgoold/Leamlara defence and took a considerable lead within the first quarter. Once Lisgoold/Leamlara picked off their first score it settled them and they began to work well together putting together some good passages of play. However, Aghada got through on a few occasions to put more distance between the teams, but it was Lisgoold/Leamlara who finished the half strong with a fantastic point being scored from the left boot of the full forward, leaving the score at 2 – 08 to 0 – 03 at half time.
After the break, Aghada again began to apply pressure on our backs but some excellent blocking and tackling made it harder for them to get shots on target. When they did manage to break the cover the Lisgoold/Leamlara keeper was there to make sure they didn’t get any further ahead and made at least 6 fantastic saves in the second half alone, to deny Aghada more glory on the score board.
Almost an exact repeat of the first half, Lisgoold/Leamlara finished this half stronger and they managed to pull back 2 goals nearing the end of the game. The final score saw Aghada win by 4 – 16 to 2 – 04 but the Lisgoold/Leamlara girls never gave up or dropped their heads in this game and encouraged and supported each other right to the end. This bunch of players can be very proud of their performance and we know more is to be achieved by them in the future. Well done to all involved. Lisgoold/Leamlara will now play Donoughmore in the county.

Training Session with Orlagh Farmer.
On Saturday the 27th of August we invited Cork and Midleton Star Orlagh Farmer up to Lisgoold to take a training session with our u12/u14 girls. Both teams have improved and progressed so much this year we saw this as a great opportunity to reward them for all their hard work but also to let them see how it is possible for someone from a junior club like ourselves to go on and achieve great things at County level also. 27 girls turned up on the morning along with the u12/u14 team coaches. Orlagh took the girls through a warm up and various football drills focusing on both the players dominant and non-dominant sides. They worked on hand passing, kick passing, reaction time, shooting and also 3v3 game scenarios. Orlagh answered player’s questions, posed for photographs with the girls and also signed autographs. The girls really enjoyed the session and the coaches picked up a thing or two also. We would like to thank Orlagh for taking the time out to take the session. We wish her and her Cork team mates the best of Luck in the All Ireland Semi Final vs Monaghan on Saturday.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Dungourney Camogie especially club members Emma Murphy, Laura Murphy and Kerri Brosnan U15a Imokilly Champions. Well done girls.
