Cork Minor Football Ladies book their place in Munster “A” Final
The Cork minor ladies’ Football team (Sponsored by TravelRebublic ) booked their place in the Munster final with a comprehensive win over Tipperary at Ovens on bank Holiday Monday. From the outset it was clear that the Cork girls meant business as they went about their task with great energy and drive. Tipperary found it hard to come to terms with the Cork forwards and were guilty of some minor indiscretions which were duly punished from the boot of Cork sharp shooter Laura Cleary
The Tipperary Ladies did find their range and also the Cork net in the tenth minute with a well taken goal from Orla O’ Dwyer but this was just the wake up call the Lee side girls needed as they pushed on with good points from Grace Culloty, Ciara McCarthy Ciara Ryan and Sadhbh O’ Leary. The second period was one way traffic as O Leary netted from the spot early and followed this with two great points The Tipperary girls to their great credit never gave up but try as they might they could make very little inroads into Cork’s lead. The Cork management took the oppertunity to have a look at the strength of their panel and emptied their bench and undoubtedly will have learned some valuable information from this encounter. Cork will have to wait until May 2nd for the Munster final where their opponents will be either Kerry or Tipperary.
Saturday next sees the start of the U 16 Munster Championship when Cork travel to Kerry to take on the All Ireland Champions. This will be a stern test for the Cork girls as the Kingdom has some great talent at this age but I am sure the Cork Ladies will not be found wanting .Very best of luck to all the team and management.
The Venue is in Kerry but has not been announced at this stage
