Glanmire Ladies’ Football Notes W/e 21-2-16

Glanmire u14″B”

The u14B team played their second match of the season this weekend versus Watergrasshill this Sunday 21stof February in GCC. On the day Watergrasshill proved to be too strong for this young under 14 development squad.
Against the wind for the first half, Glanmire battled bravely but were unable to stop Watergrasshill race to a halftime lead. Glanmire keeper Ava Barry was strong on her kick outs and made some good saves, but Glanmire went in a few goals down at half time. A lot of the backs were busy with Anna Kelleher, Lucìa O’Callaghan and Kate Kelleher battling hard throughout
In the second half, Glanmire performed better with a strong wind behind them but could not make up the deficit.
Anchoring the midfield, Caitlin Sheehan impressed with her work rate and determination and made some incisive runs.
Up front, Lauren Murphy and Aoife Rodgers battled for every ball and were instrumental in some of Glanmire Scores.
All in all, this was a great battling performance by the u14 Development team and we now look forward to Lisgoold away in the next match
