Glanmire Ladies’ Football Notes w/e 14-2-16

U 14 East Cork League

Our 14 A’s were out on Sunday V Na Piarsaigh , the game was quite one sided but there were some good individual performances from the Northside outfit, well done on a good start to the year , special mention to some of the A subs who played half of the A game and also stayed on to line out with the B’s.
The u14B team played their first match of the season this weekend versus Fermoy 14B team. This was a very evenly matched contest. Fermoy took a lead into half time but this well drilled Glanmire side were never going to give up.
Aided by the wind in the second half, Glanmire came back strongly, and through sheer dogged determination got their just reward with a late rally of scores to win the match.
Strong performers in the backline for Glanmire included Erin Kelleher, Julia Kelleher and Clodagh O’Mahony, who were very mean in defense, and gave away very few scoring chances. The midfield duo of Cliodhna Lynch and Eve McMahon really exerted their dominance in the second half, as Glanmire chased the game.
While upfront, Amy Cashman, Emma Mulcahy and Megan Murphy worked hard to get the scores
The strong impact of substitutes in the second half including Evie Twomey and Kelly Graham helped turn the game in Glanmire’s favour, and they all fought bravely when they came on.
In what will be a very competitive league, it was great to get off to an early win. Well done to all involved.
