2015 Review.

The girls have brought great energy to the club this year and represented the club in 3 blitzes. We are delighted with the progress of our younger players. They are a joy to watch and bring an excitement like nothing else.

Our U10 girls have had a great year which ended in qualifying for the East Cork C final vs Midleton. What a final it was; nail-biting from start to finish, both teams gave their all and despite extra time could not be separated. We will share the shield for this year.

Our U12/U14 teams both reached East Cork Semi Finals but unfortunately on this occasion were unable to progress to the final. We were delighted to see the return of our u14 team following last year’s absence and it was great to see some of our u12 panel step up and give such a good account of themselves at the higher age group. We hosted the very successful Betty McCarthy Perpetual Cup U14 Blitz for the first time this year receiving great feedback from all participants.

We were unable to field at U16/Minor level this year but some of our girls competed for Midleton, Carrigtwohill and Aghada respectively. We would like to thank these clubs for welcoming our girls and giving them the opportunity to continue playing football. Congratulations to Caoilinn Hickey on winning a Minor “A” East Cork Medal with Aghada.

Our Junior Ladies were East Cork Finalists this year but were beaten by a strong Erin’s Own side in the Final. Despite some hard fought matches, we were unable to progress in the Championship. We completed the year by hosting our Junior 7’s Competition.

Sciath na Scól
Both Ballincurrig and Leamlara National Schools won the their Sciath na Scól Finals and were Captained by Kalyssa Manning and Aoife Brosnan. Vice-Captain Rhíona Sheehan.
We were delighted to be chosen to take part in the Gaelic4Girls Programme 2015. We saw this as a great opportunity to promote our club and encourage new members to join. The highlight was 14 of our girls getting to play in Croke Park.

Scór na nÓg
Laura Whelan (Recitation) Karen Kelleher (Solo Singing) and Aaron Sheehan, Rhíona Sheehan, Aoife Brosnan, Rachel Barry, Rachel Connery (Novelty Act) competed in the County Final in Coachford on Sunday 22nd of November. Congratulations to Laura who progressed to the next stage. Unfortunately, our Novelty Act/Solo Singing did not progress but should be proud of what they achieved this year. Well done all involved.

Lisgoold Juvenile GAA/Lisgoold/Leamlara Ladies Football Social

Saturday Night 14th of November saw Midleton Park Hotel host the 2015 Lisgoold Juvenile Gaa and Lisgoold/Leamlara Ladies Football Club Social. The suite was beautifully decorated in the club colours and there was plenty silverware on show. There were a number of presentations made on the night. Hilary O Shea and Norma Woods will be stepping down from their positions this year so were awarded a token of appreciation from the club. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them most sincerely for all their work over the years. We also wish them best of luck in the future. Chairperson Phil McCarthy also thanked the committee and trainers for their hard work and support this year. Caoilinn Hickey was awarded a trophy for her involvement with the Cork Minor Team who are 2015 All Ireland Champions. Caoilinn has been a great club ambassador at County level and no doubt her star will continue to rise. Caoilinn’s mother Nora was on hand to accept the award on her behalf. Orlagh Farmer Midleton and Cork player carried out the rest of the presentations on the night. Our U8 girls were presented with medals for the U8 blitz in Fermoy. This was one of 3 blitzes that the girls represented us in during the year. The last presentation of the night was made to our U10 Girls. The girls had a fantastic year and deserved all the praise and cheers they received when Captain Chloe Collins came forward to collect the East Cork C Final Shield. Each of the U10 panel received 2 medals on the night. One East Cork Championship medal and a medal for the Passage Blitz. The team were also presented with Super Valu gear bags that we received following a recent promotion in store. The members of our Gaelic4Girls programme also received their souvenir booklets. We would like to thank Midleton Park Hotel, Orlagh Farmer, DJ, Players, Parents and everyone who made this social a success. We look forward to more success in 2016.

We will be holding a Lip-Sync Fundraiser on the 19th of December in Wood’s Bar, Lisgoold. Music by Stevie Rocks. More info to follow.
