BRIDE ROVERS LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL AND CAMOGIE CLUB

Senior B Ladies County Final:
All roads lead to Mayfield on Sunday when Bride Rovers Senior Ladies Football team take on Eire Óg in the final of the Senior B Football Championship at 1.30 pm in Mayfield. This is the second year in a row that the Rovers have reached the final and having lost out to Donoughmore last year will be hoping to may amends this time around. The Rovers defeated Eire Og in the round robin series of games in June on a scoreline of 3-18 to 3-13. Another close game is expected at the City venue on Sunday.The Rovers also defeated Donoughmore in the A championship before losing out narrowly to Clonakilty in the quarter-final.
In the Senior B Championship Eire Óg defeated Boherbue after extra time to advance to the final v Bride Rovers.
This year the team is captained by Eleanor Ahern. With the addition of some new players to the panel there is a nice blend of youth and experience which will be vital on the day. Several of the girls have gone on to represent Cork at various levels and we congratulate Eleanor, Grace and Jennifer on their success last Sunday adding another All-Ireland medal to their cache.
The team this year is coached by Sarah Denver. Sarah has vast experience having played for Dublin in recent years and Ballyboden St. Enda’s who have being very successful at club level, winning 2 Club All-Irelands. The team have also being assisted by Liam Barry, Shane O’Connor, Terry Broderick & Darren Cody in recent weeks in the build up toSunday’s final.

We would also like to acknowledge the sponsorship of training tops and Polo-Shirts for the team by Damien and Kay Buckley who are the new management in place at Barrys Bar, Rathcormac. We hope you can all come out and support the girls who have trained hard all year. Please note that due to the Cork 20 Rally their is traffic restrictions in place this weekend. See you all in Mayfield at 1 30 pm Sunday.

U16 Football:
Hard luck to Bride Rovers who bowed out of the Championship after a heavy defeat to Fermoy on Friday evening. From the outset, it was clear that the home side were going to struggle against a strong Fermoy team. Although there were only four points between the teams at half time, Bride Rovers were chasing the game throughout and Fermoy won by a comprehensive margin.

U8 Football:
The u6 and u8 girls attended their second blitz of the season at Fermoy on Saturday 26th September. Twelve girls kitted out on the day and they were strongly supported by parents and family. We had three games against Agahda, Rockban and Fermoy and the girls ably demonstrated all their skills on the pitch and put on a fine display of football. Many thanks to coaches and helpers: Pat Cullotty, Niall Harte, Anne Marie O’Donovan and Conor McElvaney.
