Teams
U8
Venue: Ballymacarbry
Date: 23/08/2015
Opposition: Ballymacarbry A+B & Cahir
Saturday last saw our Under 8 girls being hosted by The Nire GAA in Ballymacarbry.
This was the girl’s first blitz of the 2015 season, with three good tough games resulting in a huge experience boost for all the team.
Firstly we took on a very evenly matched Ballymac A side with a good open game being played which resulted in great scores for both sides.
The second game was a tougher affair against a strong Ballymac B side, but again our girls dug deep and performed like true sports-stars, by displaying determination discipline at all times.
Our final game against Cahir proved to be our toughest game of the day but again the girls performed with super determination and the culmination of this was a great display of fast moving football with some fines scores included.
There were a lot of positives to be taken from the games on the day, with great enthusiasm and energy displayed by all 13 squad players throughout the games
So in synopsis, a 3 great games by all the squad with invaluable learning’s for the next round of fixtures.
Team:
Sophie Andrade, Kate Nyhan, Thea Howard, Lucy O’Sullivan, Erica Manning, Megan O’Shea, Abbey O’Sullivan, Jessica O’Leary, Kate Ahern, Amy Fahy, Orla Hickey, Shona Dunphy
We played Watergrasshill on Tuesday 1st and Aghada on Saturday 5th September
Watergrasshill Match
This was a great game for the girls with two small sided games being played to allow all of the girls exposure and game time.
Both teams performed very well with great defending and attacking football being played.
Aghada Match
This game proved to be a great game for the girls with a great attacking half of football in the first half and a more pressurised defensive second half giving the girls great experience as we head into the last two Blitz’s and last 2 League matches of the year.

U12
On Saturday the 15th of August our U12 girls took part in the Munster Lgfa blitz hosted by Fermoy Gaa. The team consisted of Mary-Ellen, Theresa, Róisin, Meabh, Eilis, Dara, Kalyssa and Rachel. Our first game was against Rockbán. The girls definitely brought their shooting boots with them getting some great scores. In the second game we found ourselves up against a strong Fermoy side. Our girls worked very hard as they adjusted to changes in their natural positions. Our final game saw us take on Kilshannig. Here again the girls put together some great passages of play resulting in great scores. Over all the girls played very well. From 1-8 there was strong kick outs, blocking/tackling, great runs/ support play and great shooting. The girls gave a great account of themselves. We would like to thank our opponents Rockbán, Fermoy and Kilshannig who all played great games. Thank you also to Fermoy Gaa who hosted the event. A big thank you to the parents who brought the girls to the venue and cheered them on. Thank you to Gavin who helped Phil out on the day with the team. Well done everyone.
