East Cork Clubs Tops at Cork County Féile Peil Na nÓg Finals

East Cork representatives Glanmire and Aghada did the division proud when they finished first and second in the county Féile finals held at Nemo Rangers grounds on Monday last.
The day was perfect with sunshine all the way as eight of the top U 14 teams in the county battled it out to see who would represent Cork at the National Féile finals to be held on 27th June. Both Aghada and Glanmire topped their groups with Aghada facing Nemo Rangers in one semi final and Glanmire facing Carrigaline in the other.
All games are very short and scoring is usually low so it is a sprint to the finish. Aghada were fortunate to overcome the Nemo girls as the game was extremely tight and could have gone either way. Glanmire also had a nip and tuck battle with their opponents but won out in the end.
The final was again exciting with the Glanmire girls racing into an early lead but Aghada battled back to make a good game of it in the second period. In the end the strength and depth of the Glanmire bench told as they took the title for a second year in a row and now go on to represent Cork at a Leinster venue at the end of June. The structure of Féile has changed slightly this year and Aghada also go forward in a “B” competition at a regional venue on June 27th. Well done to both teams and the very best of luck in your respective Féile finals
