East Cork Ladies’ Football Weekend Round Up .

Fermoy Minor Ladies Football Make it Three in a Row

Fermoy U- 18 Ladies made it three in a row when they defeated Aghada in the East Cork Minor “A” championship final played in glorious sunshine at Fermoy on Sunday. This was a high intensity very fast game with end to end football and goals being the order of the day. Trailing by just a single point at the break Aghada led briefly in the second period before Fermoy hit three goals in two minutes to leave the sea side girls with no way back. To their credit they never stopped trying but the town girls were relentless and clinical with their scoring and eventually ran out very easy and deserving winners.

In the County minor championship Inch Rovers were beaten by St Michaels in the county “C” semi final. Glanmire and St Michaels now meet in the final to be played later in the week.

Midleton Take U 16 “D” East Cork Title in a Thriller
Midleton U 16 Ladies finished their year off with a great victory over a very good Watergrasshill side on Saturday last. Both sides played some lovely football in a game that the result was in doubt right until the final whistle Midleton were slightly more economical with their scoring but the Hill were unlucky hitting the bar on a number of occasions. Midleton backs with stood some tremendous pressure in the second half and eventually held on to win on a score line 4-05 to 0-15.
On Sunday Midleton U 14 girls defeated Na Piarsaigh to reach the final of the U 14League Final and set up a meeting with Fermoy next weekend
In the County junior division 3league final Dromtarriffe defeated Watergrasshill in another very close contest

U 12 “A” League Final
Inch Rovers showed why they are U 12 “A” County champions when they defeated Erin’s own in the East Cork “A” league final in Killeagh on Sunday. These two sides are very evenly matched and had met twice in finals already this year and again it was the Inch girls who came out on top and made it a memorable year.
Earlier in the week Fermoy defeated Youghal in the final of the U 12 B league. Again this was another cracker with the Fermoy girls just coming out of top by the narrowest of margins.
