The U14 Girls travelled to St Colemans College in Fermoy on a misty wet Friday Night last for Round 4 of the East Cork Football A League.
The early minutes were evenly contested as Midleton Scored first with a fine taken goal from the foot of Aine O’Neill coming from a hard worked ball out of the Midleton Defence. This was followed soon after with a Midleton Point. Fermoy then responded with a goal of their own and started to get more into the game Great defending by the Midleton backs kept the Fermoy forwards at bay for most of the first half. Midleton had most of the ball for the first half but the greasy conditions resulted in a lot of unforced errors that gave Fermoy a lot of turn over ball. Fermoy seemed to deal better with the wet slippery conditions and ran out the first half leading on a score line of 1:4 to Midletons 1:1.
Fermoy had the hill at their backs in the second half and a very fortunate goal just after the restart increased their lead even further. Midleton down by six points and playing up the Hill was going to be a tough ask. But the girls to their credit fought back and gave Fermoy a very good game, scoring three points to Fermoys six. As the game went on Midleton got more into the game and for long periods held Fermoy scoreless. However Fermoy did enough in the early part of the game and ran out comfortable winners in the end on a score line of 1:03 to 2:10. This was one of those games where the scoreline did not reflect the actual game, and the Midleton girls ‘never give’ up attitude will stand to them in their upcoming fixtures.

Midleton U16’s played Cobh in the Midleton Community Collage pitch on Sunday Morning 04th May. Midleton had a comprehensive win over their visitors who failed to register a score. For the most part the action was in the Cobh half of the pitch where they found it difficult to cope with Midleton’s free flowing high tempo brand of football. At half time, Midleton led 5:03 to no score, and the second half became increasingly one-sided as the visitors tired and their counter-attacks were broken up at the Midleton half-back line. It was a great team performance from Midleton.
