Well Done to the Cork Ladies into All Ireland Ladies Football Final for 2015
Cork 4-14 Kerry 0-13

A good balanced team performance saw the Cork senior ladies cruise into another All Ireland senior football final when they comprehensively defeated Kerry in the semi final. A large crowd watched this eagerly awaited tie last Saturday evening in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.

Cork lost to the Kerry Ladies in the Munster final in Mallow back in July and had to take the scenic route to reach the semi final defeating Meath and Galway in the process and now will contest the Final on September 27th as they look for five in a row. Cork backs were super in the first period as they chased, harassed and blocked the Kerry forwards at every opportunity, forcing them to shoot from far out. Cork’s first goal came from a mistake by the Kerry keeper, which Ciara O Sullivan pounced on and released the ball to Áine O Sullivan to tap it into the Kerry net. A splendid bit of skill from Rockbán ace Valerie Mulcahy resulted in another goal just before half time seeing Cork lead at the break 2 05 to 7 points.

Cork stepped up a gear in the second half playing some lovely fast free flowing football. Mulcahy had another goal and the introduction of some fresh legs also made the difference, most noticeably Emer Scally who ran at the Kerry defence and notched up 1-02 in the short period she was on.

All in all, a good performance from the All Ireland champions but there is still some work to do, as Cork were not at their brilliant best. With almost a month to go who would bet against Cork ladies capturing the Brendan Martin cup for a tenth time in eleven years.

Well done to all concerned especially the East Cork contingent

Well done also to Noel O’ Connor from Inch Rovers who is in charge of the Waterford Intermediate Ladies as they defeated Leitrim 2-17 to 2 06 in the All Ireland semi final in Limerick on Saturday evening.
