Senior Ladies Defeat Donoughmore

Bride Rovers Senior Ladies maintained their 100% record in the championship with a hard fought win over Donoughmore in Rathcormac on Thursday last on a scoreline of 4-11 to 2-13.

The Rovers were first to score with a point from Grace Kearney, Donoughmore responed with 2 points before Laura Quirke got an equalising point. Jen Cahill put the Rovers in front before Donoughmore hit 1-02 to storm into an early lead. However the Rovers replied with a well taken point from team captain Eleanor Ahern followed by a superb goal by Jen Cahill, Grace Kearney added a point to put the Rovers back in front only for Donoughmore to level matters moments later.

Enter, Elaine Dee who hit a purple patch scoring 2-02 at either side of half time. Her first goal she finished well following an excellent movement involving Emma Roche & Jen Barry. Elaine converted 2 frees also in this period and took her second goal well which had us leading by 3-09 to 1-09. But as expected Donoughmore came back at us, scoring 1-01 to reduce our lead to 2points. Grace Culloty scored a point to restore our 3 point lead but 3 points from Donoughmore had the teams level entering the closing minutes.

Our defensive unit kept Donoughmore at bay and followng a break down the field, a great passing movement started by Jen Barry, who found Elaenor Ahern who in turn passed to Grace Kearney to convert a great point and put us back in front by 1. Grace Culloty sealed the win with a well taken goal in the final minute.

This win ensures we finish top of our group and we now play Clonakilty in the Senior A Quarter-Final on Monday 17th August. Time & Venue to be confirmed.
Final score was Bride Rovers 4-11 Donoughmore 2-13.
