Betty McCarthy Perpetual Cup U14 Blitz.
We held the Betty McCarthy Perpetual Cup U14 Blitz in Lisgoold last Saturday 27th of June. Betty McCarthy was involved in Lisgoold/Leamlara Ladies Football Club for many years, was President of the County Board and also chairperson of the East Cork Board. There was a great turn out on the day. Lisgoold/Leamlara, Carrigtwohill, Cloyne, Cobh, Fermoy, St Colmans, Youghal and Midleton all competed. Teams were divided into 2 groups and the winner of each group contested the final. Unfortunately on this occasion we did not make it to the final but the girls got to have some much needed match time and the opportunity to play against teams they had not played this year in the league. The final saw Youghal take on Cloyne with Youghal running out eventual winners. Cloyne 3-0 Youghal 4-6 The Betty McCarthy Perpetual Cup was presented to Youghal captain by Chairperson Phil McCarthy (Grand-daughter of the late Betty McCarthy). It was a very enjoyable day for all involved. Weather conditions were ideal for football. We would like to thank all the teams who competed on the day. We would also like to thank referees Gavin O Brien, Teresa Murphy and all the parents/committee/friends who helped make the blitz such a success.

We played our final league game on Monday evening 22/06/15 at 7pm vs Carrigtwohill in Carrigtwohill. Both teams are very familiar with each other and little has separated the teams in previous meetings. This game was no different as both teams were evenly matched from the first whistle. Our girls played some great football and created a lot of scoring opportunities. The improvement from earlier league games was clear for all to see. Each of the girls has grown in confidence over the course of the league campaign. Unfortunately today was not our day but we can be proud of the great team effort put in from 1 to 15.
Final Score: Carrigtwohill 4-1 Lisgoold/Leamlara 2-3

U12/U14 Both have completed League matches but unfortunately did not progress to the next stage of the competition. Championship will be starting in September. For the summer there will be training for both groups on Wednesday 6.30-7.30 and Thursday 7.00-8.00. There will be various challenge matches also. U14 Team participated in the Betty McCarthy Perpetual Cup Blitz hosted by ourselves on Saturday 27th June.
Junior Team. East Cork Championship Semi-Final coming up vs Youghal and also County Championship begins July 1st away to Cobh.
