St Colman’s Ladies Football
U 14 East Cork League
St Colman’s 3-4 Cloyne 9-5 (U/14 League)
St Colman’s U/14 girls opened up their season on the 15th March against Cloyne in what turned out to be quiet a good game of open football in Shanagarry. In Fairness to Cloyne they had a very strong squad of players for this opener. We got off to a bad start and were not up to the speed of the game and here is were Cloyne did most of their scoring.St Colman’s after that opening 15 mins then rallied together and started playing some lovely attacking football. If you were just arriving for the second half you would have asked how much are Colman’s winning by such was the skill and effort shown in that half by the girls.Although Colman’s won the second half and showed to themselves that they have ability to complete with the best of them it is a game taken over two halves and here Cloyne were the winner’s.Well done to all concerned and parent’s for again driving and supporting their children wherever they go.

St Colman’s 2-6 Carrigtwohill 0-3 (U/14 League)
St Colman’s played their 2nd league against Carrigtwohill on the 31st March in Shanagarry and this time came away winners by 9 points. This was much like the second half performance against Cloyne in the previous game with great midfield play from Ava Mannion 2-1 and Aoife Bernard 0-3.We had a solid display from the back line with Ceire Graham and Sile Ryan organising their defensive line at all times.Anita Hurley in goals for the injured Tara Roche gave a solid performance with a clean sheet.Aishling Fuch’s and Sarah Kate Dorgan supplied a lot of good ball to the half forward line of Kate Montgomery,Alice Irwin 0-2 and Emily Abernethy who was unluckly with a few shots at goal.Daisy Byrne again gave a solid performance at centre back and is learning all the time.A lot of the scores that were got were the result of great individual play by Shauna o Connell.

St. Colman’s 3-2 Lisgoold 1-4 (U/14 League)
Last Saturday April 12th we played our 3rd game of the league against Lisgoold in Lisgoold. With the girls learning with every training session by their ever patient coach Chris Scanlon they took to the field really looking foward to this game.Lisgoold fielded 12 player’s so we had to cut back our team to match this and in fairness to both teams they gave it all for the full hour even though it was the full size pitch. While the game was fairly even for long periods every time that Ava Mannion got the ball you sensed that something good was going to happen and after an excellent display of football she ended up scoring 3 goals. The rest of Colman’s scores came from Andre Mullane with 2 fine point’s of her own which she had to work very hard for.To all the players mentioned in the team sheet below this was an excellent team display and with a bit more hard graft at training we can win this league.Well done Girls.
Special mention to Goalkeeper Tara Roche who was after playing her 3rd game this week after coming back from an ankle injury.Tara is also goalkeeper for the U/12 and U/16s.

East Cork U 12 League
St Colman’s 0-3 Cloyne 4-3 (U/12 League)
Last week our U/12s got their season off to a dissappointing start against near neighbours Cloyne in a game played in Shanagarry.Looking back on the game we were very unluckly in that we did have enough chances to secure a victory.A lot of positives can be taken and replayed again in training so that each player will get a better understanding of the game.Scorer’s on the night for us were Lucy Smiddy 0-2 and Amy Doyle 0-1.Well done girl’s.

U 16 East Cork League
St Colman’s 3-2 Cloyne 2-13 (U/16 League)
Last week our U/16 had to settle for second best against Cloyne in what was an excellent game of football from both sides. As we only had 12 players cloyne had to reduce their tean to 12 also and this gave them a slight advantage as the game wore on in being able to bring on fresh legs. All the player’s really played until they had nothing else to give right from Ciara,Sile,Daisy, and Ceire up to Ava(1-0) and Tara(1-2) in midfield. The fowards Aishling,Anna,Aoife,Sinead and Andre were not found wanting either working very hard all thru’ often going back to midfield for the ball. Also another excellent display from Tara in goals.
