Inch Rovers Ladies’ Football Celebrate 30 years of Success
Inch Rovers Ladies’ Football Club celebrated the 30th anniversary of their foundation when they held their social in the Walter Raleigh Hotel Youghal on Saturday night. Over 200 members’ players and mentors past and present turned out to mark this very special occasion. From a small rural base Inch Rovers have been to the fore front of Ladies football in East Cork and indeed Cork County over the last thirty years with the high light being the winning of the Senior All Ireland Title in 2010.
Inch Rovers continue to take the lead with numerous girls on the Cork Senior Ladies panel and under age Cork teams. We thank all who have represented Inch, East Cork and Cork (past and present) with distinction over the years both on and off the field. Last Saturday night was a tremendous night full of nostalgia with many photos, videos and memorabilia on view from the last thirty tears.
President of the club and one of the founding members Willie O’ Neill was on hand to make some of the presentations with chairperson Sharon Roche, Sheila Scanlan, Noel O’ Connor and Kevin Galvin.
2014 was another great year for the club with the U 12 girls winning the U 12 “A” county title so the future looks bright. U 14 player of the year was Rose Goggin with U 16 Player of the year going to Siobhan O’Brien and Aoife Long taking the minor award. Tom Goggin sec of the club was a wonderful and knowledgeable MC for the night and he was surprised late in the evening with a birthday cake to mark his own special birthday.
Many thanks to all who contributed and helped to make Saturday an outstanding success and thanks again for the memories over the last thirty years
