Midleton U16 start 2015 Campaign
We travelled to Erins Own in the first round of the U16 East Cork League. Missing a good number of our regulars we travelled with just 12 players. As it was our first game and with only one training session behind us we started very rusty, resulting with us losing a lot of overturned ball. A lot of our attacking play broke down in the first half resulting in Erins Own scoring on the counter attack. We failed to score in the first half with the opposition running in several goals. The oppositions lead at half time was something we were not going to overturn, so we asked the girls to go out and win the second half. And that is exactly what they did. They really got stuck in and attacked the Erins Own defence. We played some great football in the second half, outscoring Erins Own by 1:3 to 1:2 the margin would have been wider only for some great saves by Erins Own Goal Keeper. Overall a good hour of football and the best thing was that the girls never gave up at any stage and played as a team right through winning the second half. Well done girls. A great effort put in by everyone this morning
Team Panel: Laura O’Leary; Deirdre Corcoran; Roisin O’Callaghan (1:3 all in second half) Susan Roach; Ciara Stack; Eirn Nagle; Gillian Mulcahy ; Dionne Carroll; Ellen Ryan; Sarah Murphy; Rhea Buckley; Courtney English.
Next up it’s the turn of the U14’s at home Sunday 15th Feb against Cobh.
Congratulations and Well Done to some of our Midleton Ladies Football coaches on successfully completing a Coaching course in Youghal Gaa Club on Sunday last. A great day was had by all who completed the course. Many Thanks to Youghal for organising the day.
