Cloyne 4 05 St Colman’s 3 02
Cloyne U 12 girls captured the East Cork Ladies Football Under 12“D” title with a well deserved victory over near neighbours St Colman’s in Shanagarry on Sunday last. This was a great game of open, entertaining football played by two very well trained teams who both longed for victory.
St Colman’s started the better and had the ball in the Cloyne net after only two minutes but Cloyne closed the gap with two fine points before they hit the front with a goal of their own in the fifteenth minute. Both sides played some lovely football with St Colman’s scoring a further goal and two points to lead at the break by 2-02 to 1-02,
The second period started at a hectic pace with Cloyne scoring two goals in two minutes to take the lead. Colman’s fought back but the Cloyne backs were outstanding and withstood attack after attack from the St Colman’s girls. Cloyne added another goal before Colman’s replied with a good goal of their own but it was to be Cloyne’s day and they finally ran out winners on a score line 4 05 to 3 02.
Well done to both teams who put up an excellent display of Ladies Football for a very large crowd who attended the game
