Senior B County Championship Final
Bride Rovers 1-6 Donoughmore 4-13
The Senior team reached the end of their 2014 campaign with a loss to Donoughmore in the Senior B County Final on Tuesday 16th September in Mourneabbey. Following the great display against Eire Og in the semi final hopes were high going into the clubs first ever senior championship final. Donoughmore had arrived in the final having similar results to the rovers girls in earlier rounds and finished second in their group defeating Clonakilty in the semi final. The Mid cork side had the better of the first half and lead by 14 points at half time. The introduction of Ex Cork Footballer and recently retired player Juliet Murphy during the first half was a huge psychological boost to her team mates. The positivity among the players and management at half time instilled belief in the team that the deficit could be overcome as they had so many times in the past. This wasn’t to be the case on the night though where a below par performance over the 60 minutes meant the 13 time Senior A County winners won the Senior B title for their first year down in the competition. While the girls and management were bitterly disappointed on the night more with the performance than the overall result they can take great pride in the fact that the club has progressed for the first time ever to a Senior Final and have also won their league in the same grade. The junior team too had a successful county league win as did the U21 team with their championship victory. Overall this is a huge achievement for all involved as all three panels trained together for the season. The future for this team is bright and these wins will boost football in the club for the 2015 season where the 4.13 to 1.6 loss will become a distant memory. Bride Rovers supporters as always out numbered the opposition and for this the team are extremely grateful. For now let all players and management of the adult teams take a bow and enjoy the winter. The Senior girls’ main sponsor during the 2014 season was Spar Rathcormac and we sincerely thank them for their support.

U16B County Championship Quarter-Final
Eire Og 4-16 Bride Rovers 4-11
Despite a spirited performance against Eire Og in the U16 county quarter final last Friday night in Ovens, we exited this year’s U16B championship at the quarter-final stage. This game was played in very wet conditions in the first half and we trailed by 8 points at half-time after hitting the crossbar three times. The girls never gave up though and fought to the end to reel in the Eire Og lead, winning the second half but falling short by 5 points in the end. Hard luck to the panel of players but we can be very proud of the performance. Well done to Eire Og and best of luck to them in the rest of the shampionship.
