Kayla O’Connor pictured above with Cork Senior Ladies Football Manager Eamonn Ryan. On Sunday next Kayla will experience a golden moment when she steps out on to Croke Park for the first time in front of 50,000 people at half time in the Kerry versus Mayo All Ireland Semi-final. Kayla was selected as she was on the Glounthaune Primary School team which won the INTO Mini-Sevens competition. Kayla is a member of the Erin’s Own U14 team and her honours include an U12 A County Championship and East Cork Honours at U14 both this year and last. Kayla is also the holder of a Sciath na Scol county medal. Kayla’s father Eamonn is steeped in football and is currently a coach at U14 level. Two other members of the U14 squad have also appeared in Croke Park in the last few years and they are Alison Hayes and Becky Opperman who is a member of the Cork U14 Football team. The club would like to cong ratulate Kayla and wish her and her family well on this fantastic achievement.
