Munster Ladies Football Senior Final
Cork 6-14 Kerry 2-11
East Cork Girls to the fore as Cork triumph over Kerry

Cork regained their Munster senior Ladies football crown with a comprehensive victory at a beautifully prepared Rathmore venue on Saturday last. Unfortunately the weather was poor with a heavy mist falling all through out the game but one of the largest crowds at a Ladies football Munster final in many a long year were well entertained by two great teams who know each other very well. Cork showed exactly why they are All Ireland Champions with a powerful display from every member of the panel.
East Cork was once again well represented with no fewer than seven players on the starting fifteen. Angela Walsh (Inch Rovers) was a tower of strength at full back and made several great runs out of defence to deliver the ball to the powerful forwards. Roisín Phelan ( Aghada ) worked very hard and made the save of the season in the 26th minute when she dived across the goal to divert the ball away from a certain goal when Kerry were pressing extremely hard.
Annie Walsh (Inch Rovers) was once again outstanding with her work rate second to none, defence or attack it just does not matter to this lady. Orlagh Farmer (Midleton) was also tireless in her efforts to deliver the ball to the devastating inside forward line which was made up of Valerie Mulcahy (Rock Bán), Grace Kearney (Bride Rovers) and Emma Farmer (Aghada) who collectively scored five of the six goals for Cork.
Valerie never tires of scoring and added another goal and four points to her impressive tally over the years, Grace scored a rocket of a goal that many in other codes would be proud of and made a further two goals. What can we say about Emma who truly came of age on Saturday and showed exactly why she was chosen as the East Cork and district sports star of the month recently scoring three superb goals taring the heart out of the Kerry defence time and time again
Well done to all concerned on a great performance and hopefully these girls can go on to take another All Ireland title in September
