FEILE EAST CORK QUALIFYING ROUND IN AGHADA REPORT BY SHEILA SCANLON
Our U14’s were out today in Aghada taken part in the East Cork feile qualifying competition. We had a panel of 18 girls. Our captain today was Kelly Steele as a player who has shown great leadership throughout our league campaign to date. There was 6 teams taken part in total. We got drawn on our side against Aghada, Rockban & fermoy . On the other side was glanmire, bridervrs & midleton. We played Aghada first. It was 7mins aside. So we had to settle fast and pick off our scores quickly to win the game due to time been so short. We had already played Aghada in our league and got beaten so today was another opportunity to get a win back against them. We played well from the start and both sides fought hard for scores. We were up 2pt to no score at half time. Scores coming from Kelly steele and Rose Goggin. Second 7 mins were going to be tough to hold our scores on the scoreboard. The girls kept putting on the pressure through out the game, But Aghada came back to get a goal in the dying moment to take the game. Full time score Aghada 1-0 to Inchrvrs 0-2.

Our second match was against Rockban who we beat in our league. But that was our 1th league match of the season so Rockban could only improve from there on. We knew from our 1th match we had to step up a gear and win this game if we had any chance to qualify to the semi.Rockban had improved since playing them last and fought hard to get scores against us. But Inchrvrs were the stronger side throughout all positions to take the game, scores came from Kelly Steele & Shannon Cremin. Full time score Inchrvrs 2pts to Rockban no score.

Our 3rd game was against Fermoy which we also had beaten in the league. Both sides needed this win to qualify to the semi, from the start Inch rovers were dominating across all positions on the field, to take the game. Scores came from Rose Goggin, Kelly Steele, Shannon Cremin & Megan Murphy. This saw us through to the semi final once again against glanmire.

The semi final was 10mins aside so both sides were tired at this stage so we knew we had a very tough game to play to get to the final. The girls really wanted to take this win against Glanmire so much when losing to them last year in the semi. From the start it was a very tough and physical game and both sides never gave up. Our girls really showed fantastic heart and played some great football but Glanmire just had the better finish to take the game once again from us to bring the full time score to Glanmire 3-2 to Inchrvrs 2-1. This Brought our feile campaign once again to a end for 2014. Now this saw Glanmire & Aghada qualify to the final even do they didn’t need to play, but both teams agreed to play final anyway. It was another very tough game, both sides showed some very skillful football and determation. But Aghada won marginally by 2pts to win out the East cork qualifying competition. There was 2 teams to go through from today to represent East cork to County qualifier in end of the month. Glanmire & Aghada want to wish you both the very best of luck from inchrvrs club. Panel today: Amy Keohane, Aoife o neill, Emma Cosgrove, Marica maunsell, Aoife Higgins, Aoibhe Joyce, Caoimhe Barry, Rose Goggin, Alanna Budds, Shannon Cremin, Kelly steele (C), orla cowhig, Meagan Murphy, Ali Martin,Sarah Roche, aisling Murphy, Joanne Keniry & niamh Molloy.
On behalf of myself and James as management want to thank niamh Roche from the u16’s for coming along to prepare our goalkeeper Amy with some useful warm ups today and last Wednesday nite at training. Niamh who has only recently completed a goalkeeper coaching course on behalf of our club. Our girls today, i can’t speak more highly of and we are so proud of ye. Ye never gave up throughout all games today and showed outstanding determination and heart as a team. Keep the heads up and be proud.
We still have our league to complete which we meet bridervrs nxt,Game is provisionally booked for bank holiday Monday away, time to be confirmed.

Our U14’s were out this evening playing there 6th rd of the league against bridervrs in rathcormac. Our captain today to lead out her team was Marica Maunsell. Both teams needed this win to qualify into the league semi final. We knew from playing bridervrs in the past that this game was going to be a tough game to win. Both teams fought hard from the start and we had most of the play up front but the nerves got to the girls at first and had easy chances to get scores. But shortly after 10mins Inchrvrs got the first score of the game with a pt from Rose Goggin. Both teams really stepped up a gear from there and got some great scores from play. We played 1 of girls Amy Keohane in corner forward to nite which usually plays sub goalkeeper or back in other games. But knew from training she showed potential as a forward and proved to us to nite is going to be a great forward going forward. Amy scored 1-2 in the first half. There was also some other great scores came from Ali Martin , Shannon Cremin,Rose Goggin, Meagan Murphy & Kelly Steele. To bring the half time score to inchrvrs 2-6 bridervrs 2-4.
