East Cork Ladies’ Football Féile Peil Na nÓg Qualifiers
The East Cork section of the Ladies’ Football Féile Peil Na nÓg took place at a sun drenched Rostellan venue on Sunday last. Seven of the top East Cork U-14 ladies football teams took part in what turned out to be a superb competition.
In section one. Aghada, Inch Rovers, Fermoy and Rockban took part with only a point or two separating the teams at any stage. Eventually Aghada and Inch Rovers progressed to the semi final where they were joined by Glanmire and Bride Rovers who both beat Midleton in their section.
Both semi finals were played simultaneously with Aghada overcoming Bride Rovers and Glanmire just taking the victory over Inch Rovers after a superb contest.
The final Between Glanmire and the host Club was arguably the most exciting of the day with both sides despite being tired playing out of their skins and served up some great entertaining football. In the end the Aghada girls won the day with two late goals to qualify for their first county Féile.
Thanks to both referees who kept the games flowing and entertaining.
Thanks to Aghada GAA club for the use of their splendid facilities and well done to the Aghada ladies Football Club for their organisation and efficiency in running off the event. A big thank you to all the Ladies in the Kitchen who looked after everybody so well and finally to all the participating teams and supporters for making the day so special. Best wishes to Aghada and Glanmire when they represent the Imokilly division in the county Féile finals later in the month.
Best wishes to all the East Cork girls who are on the Cork U 16 panel when they play Kerry in the Munster semi final on Wednesday evening and the U 14 Cork team when they play Clare in the Munster semi final on Friday.
