Aghada Ladies’ Football Notes

Congratulations

Congratulations to Roisín Phelan who has been selected on the Ladies Football Higher Education Committee (HEC) All Star team for 2014.This is a tremendous honour: well done Roisín. She was on the UCC team who were defeated in the O’Connor Cup by UL recently in Belfast.

Well done to Laura Burchill and Emma Farmer who played with CIT in the Lynch cup final in Belfast recently. Emma was the star of the show for CIT scoring 1-12 for her side but unfortunately was beaten by a single point.

Both Emma and Roisín played very well in the Cork senior match v Laois on Sunday last. Cork now play Tyrone next weekend with a win required to make the semi finals

Well done also to Aileen McGrath and Sarah Leahy who both had a fine game with the Cork U-14 Ladies who defeated Kerry in the first round of the Munster Championship in Castleisland recently

U-16

In the U 16 League we have started slowly and were beaten by Bride Rovers and Fermoy in the first two rounds but hopefully we will improve as the year goes along.

U-14

The U-14 girls played Bride Rovers on Saturday last and after a great game came out on top by just two points. Full credit to both sides as the weather deteriorated greatly during the game but all the girls contributed to a very entertaining game. They played Midleton on Monday evening also coming out on top so they have full points from all matches so far.

U-12

The U-12 League has only just started and there are 11 rounds in this competition, our first match is in Cobh (Top Field) next Sunday evening at 6 pm. The U-10 girls start the weekend after next.
