St Colmans 9-13 Delaney’s 0-0
Last Sunday March 23 our U/16 footballers had a fine win against Delaneys which hopefully will kick start our season after their narrow loss to Na Piarsaigh the previous week. While as the score might suggest that the backs had a quiet game this was not the case.On some occasions where Delaneys threatened to score Rachel Joyce, Rebecca o Brien,Maeve Steele and Aoife Mellerick were to clear any Delaneys attack. The midfield battle was won by Hannah Belton and Niamh Cowhig who ran their socks off all thru the game and also scored 4-6 between them.Up front working off this fine display from midfield the forwards were able to dominate much of the scoring where Ciara Mellerick and Katie Scannell were to score 4-3 between them.Ella Smiddy,Tara daly and Sarah Scully were to add further points between them before the game end.Sarah Baja our brilliant goal keeper was to come outfield in the second half and showed what a fine footballer she is.
