U-14 round 3 of the League

Our U-14’s  played the 3rd round of league against Aghada. The match was played in pobalscoil secondary school in Youghal due to Killeagh pitch been unavailable. Conditions on the day was dry but very blustery. Our captain today to lead out her team was Aoibhe Joyce. We started off well and were the first to get a score on the scoreboard from a goal from our centre forward Ciara Leahy. Aghada came back shortly with a goal also to level the scoreboard. But Inch rovers seemed to gel well and settle faster to get some great scores from Orla Cowhig, Kelly Steele, Shannon Cremin & Rose Goggin. Aghada also got some great scores in the first half to bring the half time score to inchrvrs 2-5 to Aghada 2-2. We knew the second half Aghada had the advantage of the wind behind them so knew we had to up our game to hold the lead. Second half we moved players around in different positions and brought on some subs to hopefully strengthen the team to hold the lead. But Aghada came back very strong to get some great scores and pulled away to look the better team in the second half. But our girls still tried hard to hold the lead but Aghada just wanted this win more today and finished the stronger team on the day. Full time score Aghada 5-11 to inchrvrs 4-7. We have a tough few games ahead still so today was another learning curve on skills we need to improve on. But know the girls will improve from today and there is a good sprint in the camp to do this going forward. Well done again today and keep the heads up and be very proud of your performance to date.Team panel : Jane sexton, Aoife O’ Neill, Emma Cosgrove, Marica Maunsell, Aoife Higgins, Aoibhe Joyce (C),Caoimhe Barry, Alanna Budds, Kelly Steele, Meagan Murphy, Ciara Leahy, Rose Goggin, Shannon Cremin, Ali Martin & Orla cowhig. Subs : Claire Gould, Chloe Motherway, Joanne Keniry, Grainne Landers, Amy Keohane, Niamh Molloy & Aoibhe Lee. Sorry to the subs that I couldn’t get on, Thanks very much to Pobal Scoil for use of the pitch today … Well done girls, Sheila Scanlon, and James Maunsell

U-14 round 4 of the League

U14 played their 4th rd of league away to Fermoy on St Patrick’s weekend. We played in the college pitch. Conditions were good except there was no nets in the goals and none behind the goals. So was going to be very difficult for the girls to judge when kicking into the goals direction. It was a early start out this morning for both teams with throw in@ 10.30, but both teams were well up for it. Our captain today to lead out her team was Kelly Steele. Both teams started off well and fought hard to get possession. But our corner forward Shannon Cremin got a great point from play and had a outstanding game throughout to get the first score on the scoreboard. We just plugged on from there to get the next few pts from play from Meagan Murphy, Kelly Steele & Rose Goggin. Fermoy tried hard and had some  good individual players. Towards the last 10mins to go Fermoy came back to get there first score on the scoreboard with a goal. Our goalkeeper Jane Sexton made some mighty saves also in first half. Shortly after our centre field Alana budds got a goal to end the half time score to inchrvrs 1-5 to Fermoy 1-0. Second half kicked off well and our girls really stepped up a gear and kept the pressure on to get some more great scores from Aoibhe Joyce, Kelly Steele, Meagan Murphy & Shannon Cremin. But Fermoy again tried hard to make a come back and got some great scores but time was against them to bring the full time score to inchrvrs 6-8 to fermoy 4-3. Be very proud once again of your performance to date. Delighted also all our subs got a run.Team  Panel : Jane Sexton, Aoife Higgins, Emma Cosgrove, Amy Keohane, Aoife O’Neill, Aoibhe Joyce, Caoimhe Barry, Alanna Budds, Kelly Steele, Meagan Murphy, Ciara Leahy, Rose Goggin, Shannon Cremin, Ali Martin,Chloe Motherway, Joanne Keniry, Grainne Landers, Claire Gould, Niamh Molloy,Aisling Murphy & Sarah Roche our only U12 on board today who came on as a sub and scored 1-1 from play .
